Diana Sagastume


Diana Sagastume is a researcher in the Department of Public Health at the Institute of Tropical Medicine in Antwerp (Belgium), while also pursuing her PhD at the University of Antwerp, titled "Understanding and Addressing the Double Burden of Malnutrition at the Household Level in Guatemala." Her education includes a BSc degree in Clinical Nutrition from Universidad Francisco Marroquín in Guatemala City and an MSc degree in Nutrition and Health with a specialization in Nutritional Physiology and Health Status from Wageningen University, The Netherlands.

Currently, she leads and assists in various projects primarily focused on addressing modifiable risk factors for the prevention of NCDs (non-communicable diseases). This includes developing health promotion programs for low- and middle-income countries and conducting systematic reviews and meta-analyses on topics related to malnutrition, lifestyle, and prevention of NCDs in resource-constrained settings. Additionally, she is a lecturer in the advanced course on NCDs offered by ITM and the Master of Epidemiology program at the University of Antwerp.
